C9orf72 Stem Cell Bank
BrainXell develops highly characterized human iPSC-derived neuronal and glial models to support translational neuroscience and neurodegenerative disease research. Thanks to collaborative efforts with CureC9, BrainXell is offering C9orf72 ALS patient-derived neurons from several donors to help expand access to human-relevant CNS models, enabling researchers to better study diseases including C9orf72-associated ALS/FTD. At the heart of this work is a shared goal: accelerating discoveries that can ultimately improve the lives of patients and families impacted by neurodegenerative disease.
BrainXell is proud to partner with Yentli Soto Albrecht and the CureC9 initiative that will help advance patient-driven research and expand access to meaningful tools for the ALS/FTD research community.
Partners:
- BrainXell — host of the commercial biorepository
Note: C9 patient stem cells will be available commercially starting late 2026.
What this project needs:
- C9orf72 carriers willing to participate. The bank is operational and cells are being transferred, but building a representative collection requires more carriers to sign up and donate samples. If you carry the C9orf72 expansion and want your cells to be part of finding a cure, this is one of the most direct ways to contribute. Reach out to us.
- Participation by donating C9 skin biopsies to this program requires participation in the ALS TDI ARC study. If you are interested, please also enroll now.
